Northern Cape Youngster Positioned For Success By NCDev

Barkley West, a small town situated in the Northern Cape, may not be as popular as other major cities in South Africa, but it has produced some exceptional individuals like Aaron Moremane, a second-year student at the NCDev Ecosystem Academy.

Aaron, who registered with NCDev Ecosystem in mid-January last year, has been exposed to various skills such as coding, programmIng languages, business setups, and hackathons. These training sessions have been an advantage; he has also gained experience while studying through the various activities and programmes run by the NcDev Ecosystem.

In an interview with Aaron, he mentioned that he got to meet new zealous, vibrant, young people, like-minded individuals who turned out to become a family. Together, they came up with ideas and hosted an educational fundraising event for kids, which turned out to be a huge success.

Besides the fundraising event, Aaron was part of a team that went to Springbok to do the Concordia ICT and Business VacWork in Springbok, from the 22nd till the 26th of February 2023. It was an amazing experience for Aaron to work in an unfamiliar environment and transferring  knowledge with both young and old people. “Concordia really changed my brain chemistry. We are often told that older people are bad or not interested in tech but Concordia proved otherwise”, said Aaron.

Currently, Aaron is the secretary of the Geekulcha Students Society at the NCDev chapter. “I joined GKSS because Geekulcha is a youth-driven initiative that aims to empower young people with ICT skills, entrepreneurship skills, and the knowledge to create sustainable solutions to Africa's problems and I want to be part of the movement and drive innovation and the geek culture amongst my peers”, said Aaron

The Geekulcha student society has been a stepping stone for many young people like Aaron to unleash their potential and to make an impact in their communities. The future looks bright for Aaron as he continues to learn and grow in the ICT sector. He is a perfect example of how young people can use their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in their communities. Aaron hopes to inspire other young people to pursue their dreams and to use their skills to make a difference in the world.
